Count Edward Raczyński was a distinguished Polish diplomat and statesman who played a pivotal role in Poland’s history during the 20th century. Born in 1891 into an aristocratic family, Raczyński dedicated his life to serving his country through various diplomatic positions.

As the Polish Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 1934 to 1945, Raczyński tirelessly worked to secure international support for Poland during the turbulent years of World War II. He was a strong advocate for the Polish government-in-exile and played a crucial role in exposing the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany against the Polish people, including the Katyn massacre.

After the war, Raczyński continued to serve as a prominent figure in the Polish diaspora. He settled in London in 1967 and lived at 8 Lennox Gardens in the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea until his passing in 1993 at the remarkable age of 101. This elegant area of London, known for its grand Victorian townhouses and leafy gardens, provided a fitting residence for a statesman of Raczyński’s stature.
