From 1910 to 1914, Bateman lived at 40 Nightingale Lane in Clapham South, located in the London Borough of Wandsworth. During this period, he honed his distinctive style and gained popularity for his witty and satirical cartoons that appeared in magazines such as The Tatler and Punch.
