He was known for his breathtaking leaps, expressive acting, and dynamic partnerships with leading ballerinas such as Margot Fonteyn. In addition to his performing career, Nureyev was also a gifted choreographer and served as the Director of Ballet at the Paris Opera from 1983 to 1989.
