Edmund Henry Hynman Allenby, better known as Field Marshal Viscount Allenby, was a distinguished British soldier and diplomat who played a crucial role in World War I. Born in 1861, Allenby began his military career in 1882, serving in South Africa and later in the Second Boer War. During World War I, Allenby commanded the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, leading successful campaigns in Palestine and Syria against the Ottoman Empire.
