From 1836 until his death in 1865, John Lindley resided at Bedford House on The Avenue in Ealing, London. The Borough of Hounslow, where the house is located, has a rich history dating back to the Domesday Book of 1086. During Lindley’s time, the area was known for its sprawling country estates and beautiful gardens, providing a fitting setting for a botanist of his caliber.
