As leader of the London County Council from 1934 to 1940, Morrison oversaw significant improvements in housing, education, and public services in the capital.

Morrison lived at 55 Archery Road in Eltham, located in the Borough of Greenwich, from 1929 to 1960. The borough has a rich history, with notable landmarks such as the Royal Observatory, the National Maritime Museum, and the Old Royal Naval College. During Morrison’s time in Eltham, the area underwent significant changes, with the construction of new housing estates and the expansion of public services.

Recognized for his contributions to British politics and society, Morrison was appointed a Companion of Honour and a Privy Counsellor. He was also elevated to the peerage as Baron Morrison of Lambeth in 1959. Herbert Morrison passed away in 1965, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most influential British politicians of his generation.
