Some of his most notable roles include George in “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” (1966), Petruchio in “The Taming of the Shrew” (1967), and Mark Antony in “Cleopatra” (1963). The latter film sparked his famous romance with co-star Elizabeth Taylor, whom he married twice.

From 1949 to 1956, Burton resided at 6 Lyndhurst Road in the Borough of Camden, London. This area of the city has been home to many artists, writers, and intellectuals over the years, making it a fitting place for a rising star like Burton to live during the early years of his career. In 2011, a Blue Plaque was erected at this address to commemorate the actor’s time there and his significant contributions to British theatre and cinema.
